WHAT IS YOGA?
Although many people think of yoga as a fitness exercise, it is actually a holistic life philosophy
that originated more than 5,000 years ago in India.
The word "yoga" means "Unity" and refers to
the fusion of body, mind, and spirit through meditation, breathing, and physical postures.
The postures, also called asanas, were developed
to strengthen the body, improve health, and
prepare for meditation.
There are many different styles of yoga, ranging from gentle, meditative forms such as restorative yoga to the fast-paced Ashtanga style.
Yoga is for all types of people and all ages.
Asanas, or "yoga postures," promote good health, although in different ways compared to physical exercises, by"placing the physical body in positions that also cultivate awareness, relaxation,
and concentration."
In addition to its physical benefits, such as
improving flexibility, strength, and posture,
yoga also helps reduce stress, heal the body and emotions, and foster inner peace.

ABOUT OUR CLASSES
At Paikea México we offer private, semi-private and group classes for all kinds of students (beginners, intermediate and advanced). We have different styles and modalities adapting the class to what the client needs.
We offer the following types of Yoga:
1. Vinyasa flow: it is the practice of placing yoga postures in sequence, fluidly and synchronized with breathing. In the practice of Vinyasa Yoga, each movement is performed with a specific inhalation or exhalation, creating a continuous flow of movement and breath. It is one of the most popular types of yoga today because it is super aerobic and you sweat a lot, and without a doubt the most fun!
2. Hatha: it is a more static type of yoga, the practice is a little slow, it focuses mainly on maintaining the posture while doing breathing exercises.
3. Restorative: it is a type of therapeutic yoga, its purpose is to rest the nervous system. It is done through soft and passive asanas (postures), peaceful and relaxed. Allows for deep relaxation while holding poses for longer periods of time with the help of accessories that fully support you. The main focus of Restorative Yoga is that by relaxing in postures, with the help of accessories, without tension or pain, we can achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation.
4. Yin: this yoga focuses on stretching the body's connective tissues, such as ligaments, tendons, and fascia, rather than working the muscles. The postures last 3 to 5 minutes so that we allow the fascia and connective tissue to relax. It is a good practice to do before bed or meditation, for anxiety or stress. .
